LEGOLAND Malaysia has arrived in Malaysia and is not a dream anymore. The country can be proud that Merlin Entertainment had chosen Malaysia as its first LEGOLAND Family entertainment Theme Park in Asia and sixth in the world. In fact LEGOLAND theme park is not the only first because LEGOLAND® Hotel to be built next to the park will also be the first such hotel in Asia.
LEGOLAND Malaysia General Manager, Mr Siegfried Boerst
The official opening date for LEGOLAND Malaysia was announced by The General Manager of LEGOLAND Malaysia, Mr. Siegfried Boerst during a media briefing at its new administrative office located on site in Nusajaya, Iskandar Malaysia. If you are wondering the whereabout of LEGOLAND Malaysia, this screen capture I did while attending the media briefing located me on Google Lattitude. However I have posted the co-ordinate HERE.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Merlin Entertainments Group first signed the management agreement with Iskandar Investments Berhad (IIB) in December 2008 to build LEGOLAND Malaysia and groundbreaking work started in the end of 2009. Since then it moved full steam ahead with building of the parks infrastructure, fabrication of the rides and attractions while at the same time starts recruitment drive. By the end of 2011 the first of the steel works in the park was unvieled. It was the Legotechnic Test Tracks.
LEGOLAND Malaysia also launched the sale of their special discounted early-bird Annual Passes and within a short time managed to sell more than 35,000 passes. According to Mr Siegfried, it was the best ever sales by any LEGOLAND parks managed by Merlin Entertainments. 60% of the passes was sold in Malaysia while 35% in Singapore. Below is the chronology of LEGOLAND Story.......
.
The latest development was the signing of the management agreement to built the LEGOLAND® Hotel will further be written into Malaysian history as the first such hotel built in Asia. It will be built next to the LEGOLAND and will be able to create an integrated destination resort experience for families, allowing them to spend longer quality time together exploring and enjoying the LEGOLAND Malaysia offerings and the region.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
When I was first invited to visit the site at the end of March the site was already progressing ad 65% and about 24 days later it was already up to 75% with most of the rides and infrastructure already installed. Theming of the park has been done by the constractors and in the following month they will begin the installation of LEGO models made out of more than 50 million LEGO bricks.
CONCEPT OF LEGOLAND
LEGO bricks was created over 50 years ago by Ole Kirk Christiansen, in Billund, Denmark which was a simple, durable, colourful buiding blocks as an ideal toy for childrens (and some adults, LOL). Many kids (and families) grew up with LEGO and many still continue to play with it. With that in mind, LEGO and LEGOLAND becomes very relevant and valuable in todays society and in today's digital dominated gadgets, LEGOLAND Malaysia offers unique opportunities for families to bond and gives them the ability to impart valuable and meaningful lessons and life skills, which is becoming more precious.
What separate LEGOLAND Malaysia from other theme parks is about interactivity and participation, to stimulate the imagination and creativity of childrens. The sheer excitement of the experience is bound to have infectious results and allow kids to share the values with their friends and peers. The values of Imagination, creativity, fun, learning, care and quality represent the holistic attributes that park goers will experience. Click HERE to read what LEGOLAND Malaysia can offer.
