Drop By Tasek Chini

Tasek Chini is one of the natural retreat for those who want the feel of calmness, fresh air and away from the hectic city life. Folklore says there's a dragon in the lake and there was a Malay movie made named Naga Tasek Chini.

The lake is connected by Sungai Chini to Sungai Pahang, the longest rive in Peninsular Malaysia.

It was my first time visiting Tasek Chini even though just for a short stop while on the way from Muadzam Shah to Kuantan. It was raining heavily then and the view is not very clear.

Arrived at Tasek Chini in the evening and its the last point along the road from Simpang Chini on Gambang - Muadzam Shah Road. The last point is where Tasek Chini Resort is located.

This Tasek Chini's profile below was copied from the wall at Tasek Chini's resort.

The calmness and beauty of Tasek Chini holds and hide many secrets. The lake and its surrounding are shrouded with legends some of which dates back to the 14th Century. A legend has it that the monsters of the lake guard a submerged ancient Khmer City.

One of the more famous tales about Lake Chini is of a magical dragon, which lives in the lake. It is said to be the guardian of ancient lost city of gold, which lies in the lake. This local “Loch Ness” monster has allegedly been sighted many times over the years by villagers who lived beside the lake, but to date, no scientific evidence has been found to prove this existence thus remaining a mystery for years to come.

Lying majestically among 12,000 acres of lush tropical wildness is Lake Chini. It is Malaysia’s second largest natural lake.  Located in the wilds, it’s a great place to unwind. Lake Chini is made of a series of 12 freshwater lakes covering a large area of 12,000 hectares of Natural Forest.

Lake Chini is also endowed with a rich bio-diversified lush tropical wilderness that is home to 138 species of flora, 300 species of non aquatic live and 144 species of fresh water fish.
Between August and September the lake is transformed into a floating garden with thousands of white and pink lotus flower covering the surface.

Fishing is a popular activity at the lake and the best time to go angling is between November and January when the monsoon increases the size of the lake.
