The month of Ramadhan has turn Malaysia into a food fest. For the whole month, Pasar Ramadhan has been set up to sell all kinds of local and some foreign food to cater to Muslims to break fast everyday at sunset. This food fest does not only benefit the Muslims but also other races in Malaysia when they can buy anything from juices, local "kueh", various types of "Nasi" and more, just name it.
Sometimes, as human, we tend to over do. During fasting what our eyes see at the Pasar Ramadhan taste really delicious and our heart tend to forget that until we might overbuy. In the end the food goes into the waste bin because we might over fill our stomach or the food stale before Imsak ( late supper befor fasting of the day begins).
I went to Pasar Ramadhan at Kinrara yesterday evening (26 July) and the atmosphere is the same as in other Pasar Ramadhan. At the venue there is the presence of donation boxes at three locations. These donation boxes is not a menace to our wallet but if you are generous enough, you can drop your donation into these boxes. These donations is for Orphanage run by individuals or Muslim NGOs. I an not sure they are from the same orphanage but that is not the point.
As Muslim we must remember that what we earn from our daily jobs or from any source might not be 100% ours. There might be what belongs to someone else. Thats why in Islam, it is compulsory for every Muslim to pay zakat and fitrah and it is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. By donating it is part of self cleansing faith that should be our lifestyle. When we donate, it does not mean our earning minimize but Allah will reward what ever one donate, in multiples, and from unexpected sources. So do not be greedy but share a little bit of what you have with those who are not so lucky as you are. Among the unlucky ones are those orphan who unlike us can have the love and care from our father, mother and families. But those orphanage lost their loved ones and has to rely on other caring individuals to look after their welfare. Just look at those kids at a young age who lost their parents. You still have your parents and you are very lucky.
One of the donation boxes (but maybe all three) id from RUMAH BAKTI NUR SYAHEERA. This orphanage is managed and under the auspices of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Nur Syaheera Kuala Lumpur (Registration No 1379-09-WKL).
At present there are 31 orphans and poor kids roofed by them and all expenses including managing the home, daily expenditure for the kids food and clothing and studies are incurred by the soceity. The committee members of the soceity would appreciate donations in term of money, food or anything that can benefit the orphans and poor kids they are taking care of. Whatever deed that you hand out will be rewarded by Allah SWT.

From Al Baqarah
