It is know for its first class bird watching destination in this region. It is home of 250 species of wild migratory birds and they fly across from as far asa Northern siberia, islands of Japan and neighbouring land mass searching for new feeding grounds to escape the freezing winter up North.
The sightings is truly a rare treat to bird watchers. Siberian thrush from Siberia, are found in Fraser's Hill for
couple months before migrating southwards to Australia and New Zealand. They will fly back home to the North in March and April when the sun moves up to the Tropic of Cancer.
Migratory birds were attracted to Fraser's Hills because of its cool climate within the undisturbed jungle, green clad mountainous terrain that make them feel at home. Due to that Fraser's Hill had been a bird sanctuary.
Being the place for migratory bird Fraser's Hill organise the International Bird Race 2014 scheduled on 21-22 June 2014. It will be a healthy and educational outdoor sport and will be an annual occasion.
There will be three distinctive categories:
ADVANCED CATEGORY for serious and experienced bird watchers who return to Fraser's Hills regularly
NOVICE CATEGORY for those who just take up bird watching out of curiosity or academic hobby
LOCAL CATEGORY for local residents who knew the whereabout of the birds and sees them everyday.
